Satire on RGV falls short of expectations

If a satirical comedy is to be made on controversial director Ram Gopal Varma, it should be dealt with precision. But the satirical comedy ‘Paranna Jeevi’ directed by former Bigg Boss contestant Nutan Naidu falls short of expectations of the audience. The movie and the character played by actor Shakalaka Shankar imitates RGV’s mannerism, style and his overall life. Just before the release of the movie ‘Power Star’, Nutan Naidu has come up with a similar parody pitted against the already announced Power Star.

With the tagline RGV — Reckless Genetic Virus, the 43-minute movie is all about the controversial director. During various television interviews, director Nuthan Naidu admitted that his film ‘Parannajeevi’ is a take on RGV and his style of mocking film stars and other personalities and showing their political careers in a different light.

Even when RGV announced that he would be releasing the world’s first paid movie trailer in his RGV World Theatre, Nuthan Naidu released his ‘Paranna Jeevi’ trailer to compete against RGV’s ‘Power Star’. The rumour that ‘Paranna Jeevi’ is being funded by Power Star Pawan Kalyan fans also fuelled its publicity to a notch higher.

The movie was bankrolled by the CS Under 99 Theatre banner. It features film critic Mahesh Kathi. ‘Paranna Jeevi’ which was released on OTT platform, is now available on various social platforms like Facebook. Although the movie initially raised curiosity because of its trailer and teasers, the excitement petered down upon its release.
